VA Beach Sun Cup Tournamet

PWSI Toys for Tots

  Sun Cup Finalists

VA Beach Sun Cup
The Sun Cup provided the first opportunity for the team to play together with their new roster.  The first game started out will with scores coming from Alan, Diego, Rudy and Zack.  Goalie time was shared by Ryan and Tanner.  The team looked good and won the first game 5 – 0.  The second game was a defensive struggle with one lone goal scored by Diego ending in a 1 – 0 victory for the Hawks.  The defense played well keeping the ball in the opponent’s end of the field for the majority of the game.

PSWI Toys for Tots
The Hawks started strong in game one but could not get the ball in the goal and end the game with a 0 – 0 tie.  There several good scoring chances that just did not seem to go our way.  In the second game the offense came alive with a 5 – 0 victory.  Ryan and Tanner continued to share goalie duties extremely well.  However, Ryan got injured when blocking a charging offensive player.  Luckily, Ryan came away with only a bruise to his knee.  After some rest he will return to full duty.  The Hawks earned a spot in the tournament finals the following day.  Tanner stepped into goal fulltime with Ryan’s injury and did very well.  The Hawks won their first game 1 – 0 moving on to the semi-final round later in the afternoon.  The semi-final game was against a newly developing Hawks rival the Winchester United team.  The Hawks came out strong and dominated the first half but could not put a ball in the net.  In the second half the Winchester team benefitted from an odd man rush at the Hawks goal and scored an easy goal.  The final score was a disappointing 0 – 1.

2009 Fall SYC Hawks

Game 1 – PWSI Courage (9/12/09)

The Hawks came out to play today.  It was obvious that the time spent in August at the tournaments helped solidify the team.  The defense played a very solid game allowing very few rushes at the goal and Tanner made good saves when called on.  The mid-field and forwards pushed the ball forward and developed several scoring chances.  The score ended up a 1 – 0 victory for the Hawks.  Keep up the hard work and GO HAWKS!!

Game 2 – Winchester United (9/13/09)

This was the second time this season the Hawks faced the Winchester United team.  It was a tough fought battle.  The Hawks dominated the game but could not put one in the net.  There were numerous great scoring chances by the team.  All of the boys played well.  Ryan returned to the field of play as a forward and produced some good minutes.  Good to have Ryan back on the field.  The final score was a 0 – 0 tie.  Keep up the hard work and GO HAWKS!!

GO HAWKS!!!
